  • We had a great time teaching a two-week class for the children at our church. We talked about the seven feasts of the Lord that He commanded Israel to celebrate as He brought them out of slavery in Egypt. It was great seeing how much fun the kids had learning about them. As well as about how they were pointing to Jesus who He is and what He would do at His coming. However it wasn’t just the kids that we’re getting a revelation of God it was even parents which was awesome. We would share after each class with parents what we taught the kids. One of the most memorable was when I was sharing with a parent about Pentecost. He didn’t know that Moses received the law at Mount Sinai on Pentecost and that years later when the greater deliver Jesus came that His disciples would receive the giving of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost.

We asked Holy Spirit to come

With the kids one of my favorite days was doing Passover. We had turned the entire gym into a Passover event so when they came into the gym and they had to pick out the paper Lambs that we had cut out. They needed to pick ones that didn’t have spots. They would proceed to the kitchen station we had set up that had lots of different foods that were bread like.  The kids had to remove all the yeast or leavened bread from the house. Then they took their lamb to the butcher shop where they would get a paintbrush with red paint. We had door post set up made from cardboard for them to paint. After they were finished painting their doors we had gold jewels and small little plastic animals scattered all over the the floor in the middle of the gym.  They got to go around picking it all up and putting it in their bags. Which represented the plundering of Egypt as they left. Once that was complete we had a wall of blankets set up with row dividers and it represented the sea. They all stood at the edge and said then God parted the sea. We pulled the blanket back which allowed them to walk between all the blankets to the other side. At the other side of the sea they had a celebration singing and dancing with tambourines.

The kids learned how Jesus death broke the chains of sin and darkness. Jesus sets us free. He was the perfect sacrifice.

                Kids braking the chains

It was a great class that was fun and interactive for the kids full of revelation of who Jesus is. This is just two small parts of all the things that happened during the two weeks. we are looking forward to doing it again next year.

Malachi 4: 5-6

Behold I send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the Lord to turn the hearts of fathers to the children and children to the father’s lest I come and strike the land with a curse.

Prayer or having an intimate relationship with the Lord where you’re sharing your heart with God and seeking to know his heart is such an important part of ministry. It’s from that place that our ministry was birthed and it’s from that place that our ministry continues. How do we engage our children so that they want to pray and have this relationship with God? I can say for me I’ve taken my children with me to my prayer meetings since they were infants. As well as praying with them before bed and sometimes during the day. There have been times at some meetings where others have seemed distracted or displeased that my child was there. Some meetings  they would melt down  and I would have to leave the meeting early.  Other meetings  they would sit at my feet  coloring. But the fruit of allowing my children to experience my relationship with God has been worth any uncomfortable moment where they were the only infant or toddler at a prayer meeting.

I remember when my oldest was 4 and she came to me telling me that she had a prayer meeting upstairs with her sister. She told me that they were praying for Israel and that they were praying for the fatherless children in Israel. She also told me that she was praying for bad people who want to hurt children that they would know God is real. She had combined two prayer meetings that I took her to. One where we pray for Israel, one where we pray for the fatherless, and it was fun to her. I can say out of all the prayer meetings I take her to the one that I am especially thankful for is the Malachi prayer meeting. It’s a prayer meeting where we have worship and Families come together with their children. Some of the families are families that have adopted or are fostering. The prayer Focus is praying for the fatherless. It’s a prayer meeting that makes praying fun for kids and gets them involved in fun interactive ways. There’s musical instruments for them to pick up and play with as well as items for them to dance with. There’s even a microphone for kids or adults to pray on and Lead everyone in prayer. What I really enjoy about it is that they get to play and be kids as they engage in worship. And when it’s time to pray they want to pray. It’s a prayer meeting I can bring all of my children to without having any expectations of them being still or quiet.

So I want to encourage you allow your kids to experience your relationship that you have with God. In your personal time and in group settings. The things God has put in my kids hearts from allowing them to occasionally join me has been so powerful and encouraging.

Two years of ministry have flown by, and so much has happened it’s hard to figure out where to start. There has been such an amazing change in the residential facility I lead outreaches to. I remember on my first day visiting after doing a bible study we played basketball. During the basketball game a kid literally road another kid to the ground hanging on his back and biting his shoulder. It seemed to happen so fast and out of nowhere. Keep in mind that this facility is for kids in foster care who have extreme behaviors and are being treated at the facility. I can say after a little time it became easy to see when a child was being triggered and to see a situation escalating. There were several times being there where kids would get into fights and it would become so disruptive that sometimes I wondered if the message was even heard when we would tell the kids about God. However over time the kids would remember stories from the bible that we shared. And there were several amazing testimonies of individual kids having great incounters with God. Even seeing behaviors in kids completely change. However as a whole group it was an environment that seemed like it could be triggered into a chaotic mess at any moment. Kids would cuss and say rude or mean things while playing simple games like kickball and sometimes a fight might occur. Kids on the losing teams sometimes triggering in such a way that we discussed maybe not doing any kind of competitive activity for play time. But we continued to pray for God to break in. Then one day a little over a year of consistent outreach during worship a huge breakthrough happened. The kids actually began singing and engaging in a way that had never happened. The spirit of God moved in the facility and a transformation happened. Kids began wanting to sing. While we had some great stories with one on one interactions with kids now there was a group interaction happening that had never happened in this way before. Our time with the kids turned into them all wanting to hear about God. They wanted to sing worship and dance. We haven’t seen a fight among the boys for at least 9 months. They cheer for each other when playing games the environment has completely changed. Even as new kids come and other kids leave the environment stays the same. It’s because they have found comfort in the presence of God. As well as their identity in who God says they are and there value to Him.

Let’s continue to pray for healing and brake through with these kids will you join us?? How can you be involved?? Located your local group homes or residential facilities and find out how you can volunteer. This all started with a board game. (You must loose to win)

So New Years is here. It’s a time for you to set aside goals and/or resolutions. As the new year approaches I like to look back at the old year. At all the good, bad, and ugly.  I take time to reflect on things that I liked and somethings that I didn’t like. Then I set a goal for things that I want to change in the upcoming year.

Overall 2016 was a good year for me. I entered our second year of ministry and I fully stepped in the role of a youth pastor. We saw endless blessing physically and spiritually. We also had a new baby. I also experienced some bad things that tested my faith and trust in God. I lost a nephew that was like a brother to me. This was the hardest part of my year. I fought though the unknown of if he knew God. We grew up together but we also grew apart. But I witnessed 20+ please get introduced to God at his funeral. And I said to myself if this was his will to use his life to save others then so be it. Now as his birthday approaches im thankful for his life and the time we shared. I can’t leave out the ugly. Worst than loss for me is darkness. There was a breif part of the year I sat in darkness. Having the feeling of was God there? Did he hear me? Does he care? This was breif but real. Some of this time had to do with my nephew, my children and healing, our finances, and ministry. I don’t think anyone likes the feeling of talking into space. I will tell you each time I felt darkness. I felt his hand pull me out. You are not just talking into space even if you feel that way. He is there he hears you. Our history is his story.

Reflecting back on theses things help prepare me for the year to come. I’ll set goals based on where I came from and where I’m going. My biggest goal each year is to build a stronger deeper relationship with God. I want to search out the unknown and gain new revelation of who he is. Really how I reach this is my choice. I’ll spend more time in my word. I’ll pray more (send time with God). I’ll live out a bilbical lifestyle before man. I’ll teach my children what it looks like to be Holy. But I also know I’m not perfect and I’ll fail. But God will be there to hold my hand and pull me out.

So take this time as the year ends. To set goals and think about how you’re going to reach them but leave room for error. There are 365 days use each one as if God was going to return the next day.

Tell me what are some of your goals. How can I pray for you to help you reach them.

Also our church is hosting our yearly end of year conference. One thing is happening right now downtown Kansas City. You can join us there or on web. https://watch.ihopkc.org/

John 1:14
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.

This is what I been repeating all day over and over. The Word Became Flesh. The Word Became Flesh.

Elohim came off his throne in heaven and became flesh to dwell among us. The King of Kings, the Lord of Lords,  the ruler of all things, my God, the Creator of all things dwells among us. This is so powerful to me. The question is asked, why would a King do such a thing?? Love that is why. When sin entered the world God had a plan. The plan was to send Jesus who the there in the beginning, he was the word that was spoken, that created all things. Make him flesh, give him a humble birth, let him die on a cross (a perfect man died a sinners death). Our King born in a manger to a virgin and carpenter. The savior that was to die and save us from sin. He was laying there with all power even as a infant. He could of came as rich powerful man but no a humble birth he chose. Just like he choose to give up his throne and chose to give up his life. For love, for you, for me, for life so that we could be with him forever. So this is why we celebrate for no other reason, not for gifts not for lights, not for trees, not for you and me but for him. He was the word made flesh.

At the time is was scary for many people. So many did not understand. How could this be? Harold was so scared he had the baby boys 2 and under killed in Bethlehem. A savior was coming and would take his throne. There was nothing he could do.

Matthew 2:18
A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.

When Moses was born, the babies were being killed. When Jesus was born the babies were being killed, now million if babies are being killed taken right from the womb. When there is a deliver the babies are being killed. This is the time for Christ return. He’s coming, are you ready? So as we celebrate his birth we look forward to his return.

Yahweh Rapha means God my healer. Let me tell you one of many stories where God showed me that he is healer. My 3 year-old Rachael and 2-year-old Elijah have really bad eczema. We tried just about everything to heal their skin. We have had diet changes, brought 100% cotton clothes, every lotion know to man was purchased, and ever prescription picked up. We have seen doctors and specialist. But nothing was working. Their skin would clear up for about 2 weeks and then break out again. Many test were done. We found out about their allergies, pets, nuts, dairy, and pollen the list is long. Yet even staying away from these things the eczema remained. As a praying family we prayed every night that the Lord would heal their bodies. I got to the point of saying Lord you are a healer your word says you healed all types of diseases. Lord I know that you can heal I’ve seen you do it. Please show my little ones that you are a Healer. Let them see a miracle. One night Travis was at out reach and he told the kids about our kids skin and asked them to pray for us. They prayed for healing for our kids, these kids who are seeking the Lord and praying for families for themselves are now praying for us. This same night I’m oiling down Rachael and she in tears looking at me and says “when will Jesus heal me?”. Now im in tears and I tell her we keep praying and asking and he will. Many nights go by and we are still praying. So I ask the Lord to increase my faith I’m starting to lose faith in his healing power. And I can’t do that. Now I’m praying for faith I don’t need much just the amount if a mustard seed and healing. And the Lord hears all our prayers. His timing is perfect. He started healing their bodies. Rachael comes to me and shows me clear skin that does not itch and says God healed her. So a miracle  was done that day. Not only did the Lord heal her body but he also showed the children in the facility that he hears their prayers. This increased their faith not to stop praying. It was at this moment he showed us why he waited. Not for our benefit but for the kids in the facility so they would not stop praying for a miracle.

Keep praying, pray some more don’t stop. All you need is faith the size of a mustard seed. Whatch the Lord show up and show out. It’s never about us but him. To him be all the glory. We live, move, and breath all because he says so. Let this encourage you to keep fighting. Have faith in the one who controls everything. He is Yaweh Rapha, our healer.

In November I left my job to follow the Lord as He called us to ministry. I no longer had an income and in December God told me I would see a shift in my season and that His provision would come in February. I knew the Lord was going to establish the relationships and bring the people to sow into our ministry. In the waiting and contending for Gods provision I remained faithful in my calling. When Feb 1st came it was make it or break it. We had to have peoples hearts move and give to what God is doing through our ministry. I sat down on my steps and said Lord You called me to this ministry. To go to the orphan to the widow and to call fathers to turn there hearts to the children and children to their fathers. Don’t make me now a man who cant provide for his family and don’t show yourself to be a father who doesn’t provide for His children. Give me a testimony to your name not shame. Coming into feb we were almost $3,000 behind on our bills. On Tuesday night feb 3rd I had a dream and a man was going before me in a crowed of people telling them about my ministry and as they came toward me they would say your the one doing this ministry? Here and they would hand me money to sow into my ministry. When I woke up on Wednesday I knew Gods provision would come and He was going before me. I came home at 2 from serving with the Lord and I came through the door and said to my wife I am contending and God will give us $3,000 by Thursday. Her reply was that’s great I’ve had the kids all day and I’m tired. I’m going to take a nap. I was going to take that time to rest as well but immediately my phone buzzed. A person was asking if I could drive them to pick up their car. I said ok on my way and as I went to get my jacket the Lord said I will give you your need. I pick them up and they say hey I feel like God wants me to give to your ministry, and what your doing is a really big deal. They then hand me a check for $2,000. The next day Thursday I’m at a meeting a woman is there who I had never seen before. She introduces her self shes from Canada visiting for a week. I introduce myself and my family. She then says I feel like God wants me to give this to you and gives me $300. I tell her about my ministry then and she invites us to lunch and wants to pay for our meal. Someone else picks up the tab and she gives us the money she was going to use and gives us $100 more. And after I tell what God is doing another person gives $6. When I go out to do outreach that night to the orphans a check comes to my wife for $150 and also a $50 check had came. We receive $2606 exactly what we need to get completely caught up plus 6 cents. There were key points when God would stir me in faith between December and February. He said to me once as I reading I have called you the same way I called my disciples to fallow me. It’s not easy it is hard but I am with you. Anything you ask in faith I will give you. I was determined to give God till the last minute before I would seek help anywhere but from Him. I said I will Give you till the last minute of the last minute to give me a testimony of your glory and provision. I pray that this testimony increases your faith as you read it and to trust God for His provision. Lets be faithful stewards and allow God to bless us in our going out.
